Grabada originalmente por Slim & Slam, en 1938, con el título de “Flat Foot Floozie with a Floy Floy” hubo que cambiar la palabra Floozie porque, en el argot callejero afroamericano, esta palabra alude a una prostituta o a una mujer muy promiscua sexualmente lo que, en aquella época, no sería muy bien visto. La segunda parte del título “Floy, Floy”, también en argot, hace alusión a una enfermedad venérea, más en concreto, la gonorrea, pero parece ser que se les pasó por alto a los censores (no deberían tener conocimiento de su significado) que lo consideraron una tontería y, por tanto, no hubo que cambiarlo.
Flat Foot Floogie ha sido versionada por infinidad de cantantes como: Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Charlie Parker, Django Reinhart o Dizzie Gilliespie.
