T’ain’t what you do (it’s the way that you do it)

T’ain’t What You Do (It’s the Way That You Do It) la canción que todos conocemos para bailar el Shim Sham fue escrita por los músicos de jazz Sy Oliver y Trummy Young. Y fue grabada, por primera vez, en el año 1939 por Jimmie Lunceford y su orquesta.

Posteriormente, muchos otros músicos míticos de jazz, han cantado o tocado sus propias versiones, entre ellos, la mítica Ella Fitzgerald o el genial Louis Armstrong. Incluso aparece en la banda sonora de la película “Lolita”  (la versión de 1997 con Jeremy Irons, no la de Stanley Kubrick de 1962)

Hay una versión pop del año 1982 del grupo Fun Boy Three, acompañados del grupo femenino Bananarama, que llegó al nº 4 de las listas de éxitos de Reino Unido. Sobre la versión, mejor no opino, os dejo el enlace para que podáis escucharla y que os forméis vuestra propia opinión.
